(excerpt AEC-L.A. FB post) Ms. Cathlene Hughes is making history in her fight to keep her home. After being evicted in January, she turned the tables and evicted the investor who tried to steal it. She is now back in her home and has managed to tie things up in court by using the system in the same way banks and investors use the system to evict tenants and homeowners. Ms. Hughes now finally has the chance to let her case be heard in front of a judge, something most people in this non-judicial foreclosure state, never get.
The LA Anti Eviction Campaign will be hosting a fundraiser to raise money for Ms. Hughes’ legal fees and home defense. Also, this money will be going to our basic campaign needs such as flyers and media to spread the word and let the people of Los Angeles know their rights, as tenants and homeowners, so that eviction can be prevented and they can enforce their human right to housing!
