South American Cholo

American journalist Phuong-Cac Nguyen has directed a visually stunning, culturally intoxicting  film called South American Cholo that penetrates the inner sanctum of the little known but thriving lowrider scene in Brazil. 'Culture Chicana' is the Portuguese name given to the scene inspired by North American gang culture. Among those featured in the film are iconic L.A. photographer Estevan Oriol, Brazilian ambassador of lowrider culture Antonio Carlos Batista "Alemão" Filho and Sao Paulo tattoo artist Luiz "Gordo" Teixeira. You can see it at The Line Hotel on Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 7-9pm. Their will be a photography exhibit as well and it's all open to the public.
